have created this site to share information
about
a collection
of children's sermons I have written. I wrote
these pieces because, like a lot of people who
took a turn doing children's time, I read other
books with ideas for children's sermons. While
there were some good ideas in some of the books,
I thought a lot of it either talked down to the
kids or were simply boring.
Being a guy who never really grew up (some
might call it immature, but I digress) I didn't
like
either of those qualities. So I started doing
my own with an eye to entertaining the kids.

Some
of it was simple science, some of it dimestore
magic tricks I remembered from my childhood,
but all of it had to do with taking those hard-to-understand
stories from the Bible that some adults still
struggle over (I don't know about you, but
I still don't know how big a cubit is), and
finding some illustration that could explain
a bit of the story to a kid.
When
the dust cleared, I found I had 56 of them.
Enough to cover a whole year of Sundays, if you wanted
to do them all. I shopped the collection around
to some Christian publishers, but found no
takers.
Still, I think that if your church does children's times, you might find enough
in this collection to make a children's time fun, exciting, silly, and maybe
even educational. After all, don't a lot of us learn best when we're having a
good time? I hope you'll take a few minutes to check out my pages here, and if

site at least gets you thinking about the kids in your life. Jesus made special
mention of them, and whether you do a Children's Time or not, you can always
do something for a child.
